Leah Martin has spent her life fighting her weight and struggling with feeling that she just isn’t good enough. Leah’s mother is constantly pushing her to diet along with her ex-boyfriend signing her up to a gym so when Leah meets Sam Cooper in a bar she immediately assumes his disinterest is due to her size. Sam however has had his own relationship problems and just doesn’t want to date anyone at the moment.
Instead of going their separate ways though Leah and Sam find themselves drawn together by a bit of a predicament. Sam, thinking he was defending Leah to her ex, opened his mouth and announced they were engaged without thinking of the consequences of this announcement. Now the pair just needs to pretend until they can end their fake engagement so as not to upset Leah’s family.
Size Matters is the first book in the Perfect Fit series. I’d have to say there were things I really loved about this one but a few that I didn’t. The characters and story line were actually pretty good and quite entertaining to read how the pair just continued to get themselves deeper and deeper into their lies which brought about a bit of humor. And they also had their sexier moments as the two grew closer.
However, I will say I did get a bit annoyed with the constant downer Leah was about her own weight and then the constant back and forth Sam was having with himself over actually liking Leah. Yes, both are what make the story but both just seemed to go on and on after a while so perhaps just a bit toning back of the negativity would have brought my rating up a bit more.
Overall though 3.5 stars for Size Matters, some cute and funny moments between this couple that made for a good read.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
